You Made It! I Love It: Magical Playdoh Mix

Harken back to an simpler time with this handmade gift.

I’m planning a 60th Birthday party for an long-time client. In doing so, I’ve been going through all his old photo albums.  While going through these photos, I was taken back to a time when birthday parties were simply a gathering of friends sitting around eating cake.  It was a big deal if there were balloons and party hats.

In a day and age when birthdays have become Mini-Broadway productions, complete with sets, costumes, and entertainment, it’s nice to harken back to those simpler times.  I think that’s why I love Laura’s post so much.  In an era when goodie bags often cost as much as the gift, it’s refreshing to see a homemade goodie. Especially one that’s so magical.

I’ve featured Laura’s site, Come Together Kids, before.  She’s got great ideas which I’m constantly bookmarking!  In fact, I think this post would be the perfect goodie gift for an upcoming Harry Potter party I’m planning!

Laura’s instructions are always easy to follow and her photos of the kids experiencing their magical mixing is priceless!  I don’t care how jaded by YouTube and Disney, children are still entranced by the simple science of color, smell, and form.  Anything that changes from a powder to a solid with the addition of hot water and a little stirring is cool in my book!

You can follow these links to see some of the other projects I’ve featured in the past. I hope you find her site as magical and refreshing as I do.  It’s definitely a feast for the eyes and senses!
