Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day

Today is the annual Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day. A busy and fascinating day in Sophie's World.

In the U.S, today is Take Our Daughter and Sons to Work Day.  This amazing event, for children 8-18, is meant to "encourage girls and boys across the country to dream without gender limitations and to think imaginatively about their family, work and community lives". For my staff and me this is what we have come to refer to as "Halloween in April".  It has become the single busiest day of the year for children's events.  This year, I and my staff will be fanned out to 5 different large corporations assisting their employees with events and activities for their children.

We will be doing all sorts of fun and educational activities from making robots:

To Orbeez stress balls:

To literally thousands of Insta-Worms:

It is always fascinating and inspiring to see the intelligence and creativity of these young people.  Last year we challenged them to explore how ones genes affect your health.  Their creations:

and responses were amazing.

Like many things intended to edcuate our children I find that it is often the reverse that takes place.  This important day has become a centerpiece of our year at Sophie's World. I look forward to discovering what we will learn this year.
