Step 1:

Fold your black paper in half lengthwise. The size of the paper and the bat is up to you.

Step 2:

Fold it over yet again.

Step 3:

You now need to cut out your bat shape. Use my template, found under the Stats tab above, or create your own bat shape.

Step 4:

Because I folded the paper I was able to create three identical bats from this one piece of paper.

Step 5:

Using your scissors, make a tiny slit in the middle of each bat.

Step 6:

Slip your ribbon through the slit. (Tip: if you want the string to disappear, use monofilament or fishing line instead)

Step 7:

Add a pony bead to the ribbon on the underside of the bat.  Tie the bead to the ribbon and trim any excess. This helps stabillize the bat.

Step 8:

All done! Tie your ribbon to a helium balloon or just attach them to the ceiling.  You can create other sorts of creatures as well.  My wax paper ghosts look great "hanging out" with these bats.
