This tin can drum not only teaches children how to make their own musical instrument, it provides them the opportunity to decorate as well. The tin can drum inspires musicality and creativity! Best of all, it is appropriate for all ages.
Tin can (clean and opened)
Scissors
Decorating materials: construction paper, glue, tape, stickers, ribbons, etc.
Masking tape (Optional, to protect from any sharp edges)
Begin by cutting off the narrow mouth of a latex balloon, right where the round bulb part begins.
If you are worried the exposed tin edges might be sharp, place masking tape or duct tape around the top of the can.
Next, stretch the rounded part of the balloon over the opened top of the tin can.
That's it! You can decorate the outside or just leave it as is - the ridges in the can make a wonderful scratching sound when rubbed as well.
These are a joy to decorate! Here are a few of mine... what unique decorations will you create?
