First, you'll need to cut a rectangle of felt, using your sunglasses and a ruler to help you figure out the dimensions. Put your sunglasses down on the felt and measure out about 1/2" from the top and bottom of your sunglasses, and mark it with your Sharpie. Next, measure out two lengths of your glasses (from side to side) plus 1" for the width. Add an additional 2" to your width for a flap, and mark it. Cut out the felt rectangle with your scissors.
Next, cover your felt with duct tape. You'll need strips of tape that are about 3" longer than the width of your felt. Place the tape on the felt so that you have tape overhanging on each end. You'll also want to have tape overhanging about an inch on the top and the bottom of your felt, too.
Cover your felt completely on one side, being sure to leave tape overhanging on each side. Be sure to press down well to make sure the tape sticks to the felt!
Flip your felt and tape over. Fold the overhanging tape on the sides over, as shown in the picture.
Using your ruler, measure out the length of your sunglasses plus 1/2" from one of the ends and mark it with your Sharpie. You can also add a strip of duct tape to the opposite end; this will turn into your flap.
Fold the felt and tape over at the point you marked. The felt should be folded upon itself, with the sticky sides of the tape adhering to each other. This forms a pouch with felt on the inside and duct tape on the outside. Trim away the excess tape, taking care not to cut into the felt (this will make holes in your case!). You can also trim your flap into a V-shape if you wish.
Now, you're going to reinforce the sides of your case. Using a strip of duct tape ripped in half, place it on the seam of your case, leaving half overhanging. Flip the case over and fold down the remaining tape. Repeat on both sides, then trim any excess.
In this step, you'll add your sticky-backed Velcro. Make sure your two pieces of Velcro (the hook side and the loop side) are connected together. Remove the backing to the adhesive on one side, then press the Velcro onto the tip of your flap.
To ensure a perfect match, now remove the backing from the other side of the Velcro (which is now on the top of the flap). With the sticky side exposed, fold the flap down until the sticky side adheres to the top of the case. Press down hard to make sure it stays! Once the Velcro is stuck, you can peel it open and see how the two sides of the Velcro are perfectly lined up.
And there you have it! Your case is ready to protect your fabulous shades!
