Duct Tape (Three Colors)
Scissors
6 pre-cut strips, 5" x 1/4" of green (stem) duct tape
2 strips, 12" x 1" of duct tape in flower color
Dry Erase Marker
Ruler
2 strips, 3" x 1" for leaves
Pen or pencil
Place a 12 inch long piece of duct tape in your flower color sticky side up on your work surface. (A). Line up the duct tape strips by the edges and place one piece on top of the other, leaving a small sticky edge open. You should have a sticky edge on the front and on the back (B). Fold your piece lengthwise so the top edge meets the bottom of the sticky edge on one side. This will create a small pocket.(C) Press down to secure. Take your scissors and make small cuts into that tape pocket. Cut right to the edge of the sticky but not into it.(D)
Cut strips in the wntire piece of tape, creating a fringe..
Begin with your pen at the end opposite the point. Start applying the fringe, using the exposed sticky edge along the bottom of the pen.
Roll your pen to attach the length of the tape. As you continue to roll, shift the fringe down slightly. This will begin to create the carnation shape.
Repeat step 4 until you have attached the entire strip.
You can puff out the flower petals once you are finished rolling up the fringe.
Take your two 3 inch long pieces of green duct tape and lay one over the other, leaving a small sticky strip.
Use one sticky end to seal the two pieces together. Leave the other sticky edge exposed. This is what you will use to attach the leaf to your pen.
Create your leaves on this piece of duct tape fabric. Draw two leaf shapes using your dry erase marker. The flat end of your leaf should be on the sticky edge.
Trim the shapes with your scissors.
Take one of your precut pieces of 5 inch long, 1/4 inch wide green duct tape strips and wrap tightly around the base of your flower, securing it in place.
Take another strip and beginning at a slight angle, continue to wrap down the length of the pen.
When you reach the place where you would like to place your leaf, pinch your leaf to give it a realistic shape, attach it by its sticky end.
Secure the leaves and continue wrapping your pen with the duct tape strips to create the stem. Be careful not to cover the entire pen. You must leave room for the pen cap tio be placed over the point.
Feel free to make as many variations as you like. You can make an entire bouquet and hand out to your friends :)
