Step 1:

Remove the lid from your cardboard box.

Step 2:

Cover the outside and the inside of your box with duct tape. You want to cover the entire box, as this will not only make it look great, but it will make it stronger and water-resistant. This is also the perfect time to create some duct tape stickers and apply them to the front and sides of your basket!

Step 3:

Create two duct tape straps approximately 24 inches in length.

Step 4:

Cut four slits in the back of the box. Your straps will go through these slits. There should be two pairs of slits, one on each side.

Step 5:

Weave your duct tape straps through the slits as shown. You'll want the loose ends on the OUTSIDE of your box. Feed the straps through the box until the straps on the outside are about the same length.

Step 6:

To keep your straps from sliding around, secure them with a strip of duct tape on the inside of the box.

Step 7:

Completely cover the exposed straps on the inside of the box.

Step 8:

For your next step, you'll need two metal rings for each strap, plus some additional duct tape.

Step 9:

Slide both rings onto the TOP strap.

Step 10:

Fold the top strap over onto itself, so that both rings are secured in the "bend" of the tape. Wrap a strip of duct tape around the strap to secure it and seal in the rings.

Step 11:

To fasten your straps and make them adjustable, feed your bottom strap first through both rings, then back down and through the first ring again, as shown in the picture. It's similar to how you would fasten a belt with the same closure.

Step 12:

You can now hook your basket onto your bike. Starting with the straps undone, hold the basket up to the handlebars, then secure the straps around the handlebars and fasten them as directed in Step 11. Tighten and adjust your straps until the basket is secure and level.
