Step 1:

First, take your piece of black duct tape fabric (2 inches x 9 inches). Cut off a 1 inch strip, then a ½ inch strip and set those strips aside.

Step 2:

If you wish, give your 1-inch strip a nice, rounded end at one of the ends -- this helps it slide into place easier, and looks nice, too!

Step 3:

Take your 1-inch strip and tape it to one of the short ends of your duct tape fabric, leaving some hanging over -- it should look sort of like a tongue!

Step 4:

Fold your duct tape fabric in half so that the short ends meet ("hamburger style"). Your "tongue" will stick out past where the ends meet. Take your 1/2-inch strip and lay it across the duct tape fabric; you are going to create a slit for the "tongue" to go into. This will keep your I.D. holder shut. Using small bits of duct tape, tape the ends of the 1/2 inch strip down, leaving the middle open.

Step 5:

You should now be able to tuck the 1-inch "tongue" strip underneath the 1/2 inch strip.

Step 6:

Open your I.D. holder back up. Now to add all your very important documents! Tape a photo onto one side of the inside of your holder, and tape a badge to the other side. You can print out a picture of a badge, draw one on a piece of paper and tape it in, or draw one directly onto the duct tape.

Step 7:

When you open your I.D. holder, you can easily display all of your very official credentials!

Step 8:

To close it up so you can put it back in your pocket, fold it shut and slide the tab into the slit.
