In this easy coffee cup craft, transform an old paper coffee cup into a curly-que flower!
Paper hot coffee cup (like one from Starbucks, Peets, or Coffee Bean)
Scissors
Glue dots, tacky glue, or hot glue
String, yarn, or ribbon
Hole punch (optional)
Pretty paper or fabric
Other decorative iteams, like stickers, jewels, puff balls, pretty trim, etc.
Pencil or pen (optional)
Before you begin, make sure that your cup is clean and dry. Next, using your scissors (and an adult's supervision for the little ones!), cut your paper coffee cup into strips. Leave about 1/4" to 1/8 of uncut cup at the base, so that your strips remain attached to the bottom of the cup.
Using your fingers, or by wrapping the strip around a pen or pencil, roll the strips into curly-ques.
Continue curling your strips, rolling them out and down from the cup's base.
When you're done, your cup should resemble a flower!
With an adult's help, use the tips of your scissors to poke two holes in the bottom of your cup's base. You can also use a hole punch if you have one. Then, thread your ribbon, string, or yarn through the holes. Tie the ends into a loop; this is how you will hang your ornament!
Here's where you get to be really creative! Using your pretty paper, trim, and other decorative items, you can decorate your flower ornament any way you want!
Here's an ornament I made! I can't wait to see what you create!
