BFG Party update | sophie-world.com

I love my job because it allows me to bring ideas to reality.  Often while doing so I discover a brand new set of opportunities and ideas that otherwise would have never occured to me.

Case in point, the BFG party I wrote about last month!  We were finally able to find the time to reschedule the party for my dear little friend Lili.

As promised, here are some photos, updates and additions from what I must say was one of the most wonderful parties I have been a part of in a long time.

With the summer Olympics about to begin, I thought it might be fun to offer some suggestions for creating your own wacky backyard festivities.  You can use this as a party theme, camp activity, or for just gathering a bunch of buddies over for some silly competition.

Working the way I do, I often become obsessed with a certain craft or material.  For example, right now I am completely obsessed with pool noodles and the things I can make from them - rockets, flowers, critters, etc. I get this from my dad.  He is one of those guys who loves hobbies.

Full disclosure, I am not a big sports fan.  It’s not that I don’t appreciate the athletes, the games or the dedication of their followers. I simply don’t have the time to invest in a team.  My husband, on the other hand, is an avid fan of football and baseball and maintains an interest in pretty much every sport. This it turns out, is a very good thing because I live and plan events in a area with 8 professional sports franchises.   Lately the Bay Area teams have been on intense winning streaks.  As a party planner, I can’t ignore what’s going on in the sports world.

Into the Wicked Woods|Halloween Party Design|sophie-world.com

Every year, I have the pleasure of creating a small corporate Halloween party for one of our neighboring biotech companies in South San Francisco.  I’ve been working with them for over ten years.  Given the longevity of our partnership and their incredibly clever staff their themes are always fun and different.  This year they chose "Into the Wicked Woods", a Halloween take on the movie Into the Woods.  We’ve never done a theme like this, so I didn’t have a single prop, costume, or supply.
