Intro:

If you're looking for the cutest tree-topper ever, look no further! Our Paper Cone Angel is a perfect bit of holiday decor. Once you have your base, you can let your creativity run wild and make a beautiful angel your whole family can enjoy.

Step 1:

Use you scissors to snip off the very tip of your paper cone.

Step 2:

Next, cut your pipe cleaner in half (you will only need one half for this craft). Coil one end of the pipe cleaner tightly; this will keep it from coming out of the hole in the top of your cone.

Step 3:

Insert the straight end (the non-coiled end) of the pipe cleaner into the paper cup and up through the large opening. The coiled end will serve as a stopper, keeping the pipe cleaner in place.

Step 4:

Draw a cute little face on a bead you have selected to be the angel's head. (Or, if you have beads with a face already painted on, you can use that!) Slip the bead on the pipe cleaner from the top so it rests on the point end of the paper cone. Don't worry that the pipe cleaner is sticking out of the angel's head, we'll fix that in a minute!

Step 5:

Now, let's add some hair to your angel! Take a ball of yarn and wrap it around the palm of you hand a few times. Anywhere between 8-10 times should be sufficient.

Step 6:

With your scissors, snip the string to detach the yarn ball from your hand. Removed your wrapped loops of yard, and cut it down the center to create several even, separate pieces of yarn. Cut an extra piece of yarn about 6 inches long.

Step 7:

Lay the yarn previously wrapped around your hand on top of the extra piece of yarn. Tie the extra piece of yarn around the grouped yarn to secure it in place.

Step 8:

Go ahead and add that hair to your angel's head! Place the grouped yarn on top of the head bead and use the extra pice of yarn to tie the hair around the pipe cleaner.

Step 9:

To create a halo around your angel's head, simply shape the pipe cleaner that is sticking out of the head into a circle! Bend the halo down at a 90º angle in so it's at the proper halo level!

Step 10:

It's time for angel wings! Criss-cross two leaf pieces with attached wires.

Step 11:

Bend the wires on top of each other to attach them together.

Step 12:

Now place the leaves on the angel's back and wrap the wires around the pipe cleaner neck (under the head), to secure the wings in place.

Step 13:

Leave the wires from the wings sticking out in front of the angel as they will now become arms!

Step 14:

String on beads of your choice to each arm, and bend the last bit of wire over the last bead on each arm so the beads stay in place. Repeat on the other side for the second arm.

Step 15:

Your angel is beautiful! Use any kind of decor that you might have to continue adding to your angel!

Craft Variations:

You can always use fabric and other craft materials to accessorize your angel. Create an outfit or hair pieces, it's up to you. If you choose not to put your angel on top of the tree, you can place an electric tea light (but not a real candle -- do not expose your craft to flames) underneath the cone to create a light-up angel. Here are a few examples!
