Candy Sleigh

- Two mini candy canes
- Frosting (canned is fine)
- One flat rectangular candy (for example, a mini chocolate bar)
- One cone shaped candy (for example, a Reese's or a Hersey's Kiss)
- Little round candies to accessorize
- Safe round knife or other spreading tool (popsicle stick works fine - never use sharp objects with children)
This small, simple craft is a great way to creatively use up any extra holiday candy! You can make Candy Sleighs before your holiday gatherings to serve as decor on your table or as a cute addition to a gingerbread house.

First, you'll build your sleigh. The candy bar serves as the seat, and the candy canes, the runners. Spread a layer of frosting on the underside of your candy bar. Place the two longer, straight parts of the candy canes into the frosting with the curled part facing up, pointing back at the candy bar.

Now you need a few sleigh riders! Candies with cylindrical shapes such as Rolos and Mini Reese's cups work great. Put some frosting on the widest part of the candy and secure to the top of the candy bar. Layer some more frosting on the upper part of the candy and top with a small round candy head (Gobstoppers, Lemon Heads, gumballs, all work well).

That's it! Once you've mastered making our basic sleighs, your imagination can go wild with what kinds of candy you can use to create different sleighs and riders!

Take a look at some of the Candy Sleighs I have made! Some have one rider, some have two, and they all use different candies to achieve the look!

1. If you wish to make larger sleighs, use full sized candy bars and candy canes. The great thing about using full sized candies is that you can use glue dots instead of icing to hold the sleighs together.
2. Use mini chocolate Santas for your sleigh riders on the full sized sleighs.
