Step 1:

Put all the dry ingredients into a large cooking pot and mix well with a spoon. Place the warm water in a measuring cup and add food coloring until it becomes a rich, dark color. Note: you will want to make the color as saturated as you can as the color will lighten during the mixing process. Add the vegetable oil to the colored water. Place pot on the stove over a medium flame. Add the water mixture to the dry ingredients and begin to stir. The mixture will become sort of soupy and lumpy. Keep stirring. Note: you will want to keep mixing from the bottom up every time to make sure everything gets mixed. It is important to keep the mixture in motion; do not walk away from the stove at any point during this process.
Soon the mixture will start sticking to the sides of the pot, take on a dough-like texture, and sort of make its own lumpy ball.

Step 2:

Dump the dough onto the counter or onto a cutting board. Let dough cool for 5 to 10 minutes. It will be very, very hot when it comes off the stove. Once the dough is cool enough to touch, you should begin kneading the dough. Kneading is when you push, pull, squeeze, and mix the dough with your hands. Keep kneading until the dough is smooth and silky (about 5 minutes).
